Calculate premiumsWe're here for tenants and owners when things go to pieces. Household contents insurance assumes the cost of replacing items at new-for-old value.
How much you pay for your premium depends on the sum insured. This is calculated according to the living space and standard of furnishing or the number of people and rooms in the household.
What cover is important to you? We recommend our policy add-ons for extra protection at home and away from home.
Covers any theft that may happen while you’re out and about. Your personal possessions such as mobile phone, handbag, laptop, luggage, skis, bikes etc. can be insured for up to 20% of your total sum insured.
Your mobile phone falls into the water or your glasses get broken – that’s when household contents accidental damage insurance helps. It covers damage to electrical appliances, sports equipment, jewellery, luggage and medical aids such as hearing aids, glasses and wheelchairs.
Bicycle accidental damage insurance covers your own bike or e-bike. It assumes costs arising from accidents, theft or vandalism, for example. Liability insurance, on the other hand, pays for any damage you cause to others.
The glass breakage option insures cracks and breakages to glass that forms part of the building or part of the furniture. Emergency glazing, glass tables, mirror cabinets, hobs and wash basins are included in the cover. And there’s no deductible.
Do you own valuable jewellery? Then it’s insured for up to 20% of your total sum insured, but no more than CHF 30,000. If you have more jewellery, we recommend increasing the sum insured by as much as CHF 40,000.
If your credit card is stolen and misused, CSS will pay up to CHF 6,000 for the damage. This applies to credit, bank, post office, SIM and customer cards. A free card-blocking service is included.
Unless otherwise agreed, your deductible is CHF 200 per loss event. This ceases to apply at the end of the fifth year of insurance.
For damage by natural forces, such as hail, storm or flooding, the deductible for household contents is CHF 500 per loss event.
CSS may reduce the benefits and pay only part of the claim reflecting the proportion that the sum insured bears to the actual value. Underinsurance is deemed to exist if the sum insured is less than the actual value of the insured building prior to the damage.
The insurance can be cancelled at the end of the minimum contract term or at the end of the third year by giving 3 months' notice. If notice is not given on time, the contract will automatically run for another year.
Yes. Refugees from Ukraine with S status are included in the insurance – regardless of whether you have cover for one or more people. This applies until they leave Switzerland or, at the latest, until their S status comes to an end.
This cover also applies at your holiday home if household contents insurance was taken out for your holiday home before you took in the refugees.
Moving out of your parents’ house is the first step towards independence. We support this step with a 35% discount on household contents insurance for young adults under 25.
