If alternative treatment methods are important to you, then we recommend this insurance. It covers around 80 different methods, ranging from acupuncture and massage to osteopathy.
Basic insurance covers the costs of conventional medical treatment. It only recognises five alternative methods, all of which must be administered by a conventionally trained doctor (Dr. med.). You pay a deductible & retention fee for these treatments.
With myFlex Alternative Insurance, CSS covers 75% of your treatment costs. If you opt for the Premium category, you can get a maximum amount of CHF 10,000 per year.
Looking for alternative treatment? The therapist search function helps you to quickly find alternative therapists recognised by CSS near you.

No. The risk of accident is included in the cover. It's impossible to exclude it as complementary medical treatments aren't generally covered by accident insurance.
Outpatient complementary medical treatments are recognised, together with any medication that is prescribed. They must be provided by service providers recognised by CSS who feature on the information sheet on CSS-recognised methods of alternative medicine.
The same benefits are provided for hospitalisation as for outpatient treatment.
Yes. Maximum prices and time limits apply to therapies such as classical massage, osteopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture and craniosacral therapy.
These measures help to keep premiums affordable in the long term and to make therapeutic treatments efficient. Therapists may charge more than the CSS maximum price, but costs will only be reimbursed up to this limit (see tariff 590 complementary therapists). Insured persons must pay the difference out of their own pocket. Therapists are expected to inform their clients of this before treating them.
Yes. In addition to myFlex Insurance, there is Alternative Insurance 2001.
